As CEO & Founder of Wentwell, Sean Carney brings more than 15 years of experience in the public relations, marketing, and advertising industries. A trusted advisor to numerous C-suite executives during his career, Sean approaches each engagement with curiosity and candor. His award-winning work has transformed emerging brands into industry leaders, and helped established brands expand their influence.
Prior to starting Wentwell, Sean was Manager of Communications at the management consulting firm McKinsey & Company. In his years at McKinsey, Sean was responsible for the design and execution of all aspects of global marketing & communications, working across multiple sectors, including: Digital & Advanced Analytics, Diversity & Inclusion, Energy, Future of Work, Healthcare, Marketing & Sales, Real Estate, Retail, Risk, Sustainability, and Travel & Logistics.
Before McKinsey, Sean rose through the ranks of several prominent PR & advertising agencies in New York City and Philadelphia, specializing in media relations and generating hundreds of top-tier print and broadcast media placements. He’s conducted numerous media training workshops across the country, and his writing has been featured in leading PR trade publications, as well as the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Sean is a lecturer at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he teaches a class on business communication, persuasive speaking, and writing. He graduated magna cum laude from Temple University with a BA in Journalism and earned his MA in International Journalism from the University of Westminster (UK).
